GUILLERMO JULLIAN - Obra abierta, mavi, september 2006 chile
I participated in the curation and research of Guillermo Jullian’s retrospective exhibition in my hometown of Santiago, Chile. Guillermo Jullian was a Chilean architect that worked very closely with Le Corbusier for many years. He was also my teacher for two years when I was studying architecture in Pontificia Universidad Catolica of Chile.
When he died he donated all of his work to my University. As an inexperienced student, I found it fascinating to be involved in the selection of materials and the creation of the exhibition’s narrative. His work is built around sketching and collage making, approaching architecture through art. We hung the sketches using a magnet system embedded onto a wall so it appeared like an actual studio, replicating how it would have looked when he was undertaking a new project.
